In May of 2018 the European Commission will implement the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to protect the privacy of individuals in the European Union (EU). This regulation will apply to any organization providing products and services to EU residents regardless of where a company is located around the world. Companies looking to do business in the EU need to be prepared to protect customer data regardless of where it resides — on premise, in the cloud, and on employee devices.
The penalty for non-compliance of this regulation is significant, up to 4% of revenues or €10,000,000.
